The Board of Governors of Christ’s University in Pacific (CUP), on Friday, 12th July 2019 have approved the extended leave of absence request from the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Dr. Liufau Vailea Saulala, for the remainder of the 2019 academic year, effective 17th July 2019.
Hence, the Board also approved the appointment of Vili Vailea Saulala to the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor, effective Monday, 15th July 2019. He will exercise all the powers of the Vice-Chancellor in his absence, thus pursuing the role of Acting Vice-Chancellor for 2019.
Mr. Saulala has accepted the appointments of the Board on July 14th, and has taken up his new role at CUP. In his letter of appointment, the Secretary of the Board, Mishka Tuifua conveyed the following:
If you accept the appointment, the Board extends its well wishes and God speed in your endeavours to uphold the Christ-like principles and values of CUP in all matters, without fear or favour. The Board notes that the immediate priority of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor are to:
- Ensure the full compliance of all departments with the Constitution and QMS;
- Assure the performance of all Committees and the Senate to deliver the due reports to the Board;
- Guarantee the proper and harmonious operation of the CUP forthwith.
Prior to Vili Saulala’s appointment, he was the Registrar of CUP from 2011-2014; Dean of Undergraduate Studies 2015-2019 and Director of International Affairs this year. He is expected to complete his Ph.D. in December on university management system.
Board appoints Mr. Paula Palavilala Latapu Dean of Undergraduate Studies
On the same day, the Board of Governors appointed Mr. Latapu as Dean of Undergraduate Studies, also effective 15 July 2019. He was currently employed as Associate Dean UG. As Dean, Mr. Latapu is responsible for the proper administration of all under-graduate programmes of study at CUP.
Mr. Latapu is also working on his Ph.D.
